Mission description
This role will be based in Sudan, reporting to the Regional Managing Director, East Africa.
DETAILS OF MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Executive Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute the country's strategic plan in alignment with AGL's regional and global objectives.
Represent AGL in high-level engagements with government bodies, industry associations, and strategic partners.
Monitor and respond to macroeconomic, political, and regulatory developments impacting business operations.
Operational Oversight
Oversee all departments including Shipping, Sea Freight, Air Freight, Warehousing, and Commercial.
Ensure operational efficiency, service quality, and adherence to SOPs across all units.
Lead organizational transformation initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Financial Stewardship
Full accountability for the country's Profit & Loss (P&L) and financial performance.
Present Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR/QBR) to regional leadership and key clients.
Approve high-value quotes, tenders, and investment decisions, ensuring profitability and risk mitigation.
Administration & Governance
Oversee administrative functions including office management, procurement, asset control, and facility maintenance.
Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and internal HR policies.
Supervise administrative staff and ensure efficient support services across all departments.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits, legal compliance, and internal reporting.
Coordinate with HR on recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations matters.
Talent & Organizational Development
Build and lead a high-performing leadership team across Port Sudan and Khartoum.
Drive talent development, succession planning, and a culture of accountability and innovation.
Evaluate and enhance team capabilities through structured performance management and training.
Customer & Market Engagement
Cultivate strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
Support commercial teams in strategic negotiations, pricing, and service development.
Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and resolution of escalated issues.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with local laws, international standards, and AGL's internal policies.
Lead internal governance processes including credit committees and customer onboarding.
Oversee risk management practices and business continuity planning.
