Mission Description
Job Purpose:
The Estimator's main function is to ensure all tender and estimate requests are completed and submitted within the required time.
Profile
Job Function:
• Deal directly with customers either by telephone or electronically
• Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle enquiries
• Multimodal Estimates and Pricing for Imports, Exports, Cross
trade - Air, Sea, Road & Cross Trade Shipments
• Strong knowledge of Breakbulk, Bulk, Roro, Heavy Lift Out of
Gauge Cargo
• Handle local delivery quotes/estimates for various size loads
• Process quotations, submission of tenders to tender desk for
completion, daily status report upon request by manager
• Direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resource
• Manage customer accounts requirements on logistics solution
• Keep records of customer interactions and transactions
• Record details of all enquiries with comments
• Ensure total accuracy of all quotations submitted
• Ensure all quotations carried out profitably
• Quotation negations to be based on quality of the service offered,
as well as cost
• Ensure required / requested deadlines for quotations / reports
that may be required are met
• Communicate and coordinate with internal departments
• Handover shipments to internal departments
• Liaise and communicate with BALSA network on a daily basis
• Negotiating rates with nominated and approved third parties
upon request from client and BALSA Network
• Handling of general admin work
• Complete handovers to operations for new business
• Creating a positive relationship with customers and ensuring the
interaction the customer has with the business is an efficient
satisfying experience.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as
needed
• All other duties assigned by the reporting manager deemed as
reasonable and in line with the inherent requirements of the role.
Education, Experience and Knowledge Requirements
• Matric
• 5 years' experience in the Sea/Air/Road Freight Imports and
Exports environment
• Load Planning & Assessing Cargo Weights
• Strong Geographic Knowledge (Worldwide)
• Strong knowledge of types of trucks, vessels, loading equipment,
container types
• DG Knowledge
• Knowledge of requirements especially into the rest of the African
Continent
• Computer Literate – MS Office Suite Knowledge of Excel
• Proactive and Tenacious
