Mission Description                      

Job Purpose:
Ensure all estimate & tender requests are completed and submitted within the required time and covering all scopes of work.
Support Internal and External Project Commercial Activities and translate customer needs into a comprehensive and competitive response to ensure that AGL is awarded the business.

 

Profile

Job Function:
• Supervise the Estimator team
• Responsible for estimates and tenders for Durban office
• Distribution of general quotes / RFP / RFQ by form of register.
• Liaise with Clients to discuss rate submissions and provide solutions
• Checking and authorising quotations / proposals for all modes of transport i.e. Sea / Road / Air /Cross trade and Abnormal Cargo.
• Negotiate rates where necessary with shipping lines / transporters / Airlines
• Ensure that rates are updated on the system and that rates quoted are competitive. Stick to the three-rate policy for tenders and abnormal quote requests due to market fluctuation.
• Analysis official tender requests i.e., RFQ / RFP / RFI for all Industrial Project Tenders excluding Mining Tenders.
• Assist with compiling rates and solutions for Tenders
• Compile tender response together with SDV Bid Desk
• Ensure proper handover of quotes / tenders secured to the operations team / management.
• Quotation Module System – to be monitored and ensure that estimators are using this tool accordingly to AGL head quarter standards.
• Monthly Project Pricing Reporting regarding statistics on RFQ / RFP / RFI and tenders issued versus secured.
• DUTIES:
o Client liaison:
 To clarify requests
 To discuss rate submissions
 To discuss solutions
o Rates negotiations:
 Negotiate rates where necessary with Shipping lines / Transporters / Airlines
 Ensure rates are competitive
 3 quote principle to be followed on abnormal quotes
o Rates Library:
 Ensure that rates are updated regularly on the rates library

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• 5 years estimator experience
• 2 years senior / supervisory freight estimator
• 5 years shipping background
• Previous Tender / RFQ / RFI experience
• Ability to review a tender, decide on required input, engage with relevant parties and compile the technical and commercial response for the required Scope of Work.
• Work in AGL quotation module (relevant training will be provided)
• Previous Project Pricing / Load Planning experience essential
• Multimodal (Air, Ocean & Road Freight) pricing experience both inbound & outbound (import & export)
• Abnormal cargo pricing experience (i.e., heavy lift, air & ocean charters)
