Mission Description
Walvis Bay Multipurpose Terminal is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee and manage the customs and administrative functions, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant processing of import/export activities while optimizing operational workflows. The role includes guiding a team, managing workload distribution, and fostering collaboration to achieve service excellence, regulatory compliance, and timely documentation processing. This position aims to support organizational goals by implementing best practices in customs procedures, administration, and team coordination, thereby ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.

Job Function
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of operations staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, set expectations, and address any issues.
• Provide training and development opportunities to team members.
• Oversee daily logistics operations, including scheduling, routing, and tracking shipments.
• Ensure all shipments are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor and manage workload distribution among team members to ensure optimal performance.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate team performance.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing and resolving any customer inquiries or issues promptly.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding shipment status and any potential delays.
• Ensure all logistics activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary shipping and customs documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and files related to logistics operation
• Identify and resolve operational issues and challenges in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Minimum Education and Experience
• A diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Namibian Citizen
• Valid Drivers Licence
• 2-5 years of experience in terminal operations, shipping, logistics, or a related field, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of terminal operations
• Ability to motivate a diverse team, ensuring high levels of performance and morale
• Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict-resolution skills
• Must be willing to work shifts
