Mission Description
Job Purpose:
• Manage the risk of all AGL companies within the SA Cluster, under the direction of the Cluster Legal Manager, through effective support to the Cluster Country Managers concerning contract negotiations with customers, suppliers and service providers, leases and any other legally binding contracts (“contracts”).
• Ensure all policies and procedures distributed by the Cluster Legal Manager are implemented and complied with by all AGL companies within the SA Cluster.

Job Function:
• Contracts
All functions incidental to proper risk and contract management, including but not limited to:
- Sourcing, filing and management of contracts;
- Proper safekeeping of contracts, title deeds (if applicable), etc.;
- Following up to ensure contracts are concluded and signed;
- Maintaining an accurate and comprehensive contracts register.
Risk mitigation of all contracts of the AGL companies within the SA Cluster to the fullest extent possible, through effective negotiation and adequate insurance of all insurable risks, as applicable, including but not limited to:
- Contract drafting, negotiation and review;
- Tender reviews.
Highlight all important risks to the Cluster Country Managers (and any other relevant parties) to make an informed decision concerning contractual risks, key provisions, and contract durations through proper documented sign-off by relevant parties.
• Litigation
Ensure all litigation matters of AGL companies within the SA Cluster are properly and timely reported, managed and closed out.
Support the various business units with claims for cargo damage or loss.
• General
Provide legal opinions, as and when required.
Ensure all AGL companies within the SA Cluster at all times comply with relevant local laws & regulations.
Ensure full compliance to all relevant laws & regulations by the AGL companies within the SA Cluster.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Cluster CFO, relevant Country Manager and/or the Cluster Legal Manager.
Any other delegated tasks deemed as reasonable by the reporting manager
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• One of the following legal qualifications: B Proc, B Juris, BCom Law or LLB (preferably an LLB)
• Admitted attorney.
• 3 years' experience in the legal corporate environment.
• Experience of the Africa continent will be an advantage.
