Mission Description
Job Purpose:
To develop, lead and manage all commercial activities of the business. To develop and implement an innovative, growth-focused commercial strategy, focusing primarily on new product areas and emerging markets. To ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated, and that commercial success is achieved.
Job Function:
• Directly managing the commercial team
• Functionally managing the Head of Front Office (Gauteng & KZN) and Sales Manager (PE)
• Developing and implementing the commercial strategy for the business, aiming to accelerate growth
• Conducting market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share
• Developing and maintaining an excellent understanding of the key customers/target audience to ensure their needs are met and their business is retained
• Working closely with the Head of Front Office to manage key customers (existing and new), thereby improving turnover and profitability
• Collaborating with and coordinating diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer service, etc.)
• Reviewing existing products, services, and markets
• Undertaking market research and analysis and producing business plans/recommendations (including all associated costs and forecasted revenue)
• Reviewing and assessing the potential to develop strategic partnerships with sector specialists
• Assessing the risks to the business of any new commercial opportunities
• Ensuring regular reviews with customers to ensure needs are met and excellent customer service is achieved
• Representing the company externally (e.g., networking events, conferences, exhibitions) to enhance and strengthen the company's profile
• Maintaining awareness of external factors (competitors, government initiatives, legislation) impacting the business
• Communicating with all major stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve business objectives
• Collating and analyzing business data related to all commercial activities
• Ensuring all commercial activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume, and efficiency targets (KPIs)
Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintain effective coordination with sales, marketing, and executive teams
• Plan and execute both short- and long-term revenue strategies
• Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring
