The role ensures that all processes — from documentation and customs clearance to cargo delivery — are executed efficiently, profitably, and in full compliance with statutory and client requirements.

1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
• Provide overall leadership to the Sea Imports, Exports, and Transport functions, ensuring coordinated, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
• Translate company strategy into measurable operational objectives for each department, ensuring alignment and synergy across functions.
• Lead monthly operational reviews with department heads to assess performance, highlight bottlenecks, and implement improvement actions.

2. Sea Imports Oversight
• Supervise the Sea Imports Manager to ensure that all import activities — from pre-alert to final delivery — are executed accurately and within timelines.
• Approve or review major import files, especially those involving high-value cargo, client escalations, or potential financial exposure.
• Validate that customs documentation, valuation, and tariff classification comply with KRA and port regulations.

3. Sea Exports Management
• Oversee export operations to ensure accurate and timely documentation, customs clearance, and vessel loading.
• Supervise the Exports Supervisor in planning and coordinating export bookings, container allocations, and shipping instructions.
• Review export performance indicators (volume, accuracy, cost, turnaround time) and drive corrective actions for improvement.

4. Transport Supervision
• Provide oversight to the Transport Supervisor, ensuring efficient dispatch, routing, and coordination of transport activities.
• Review transport utilization, turnaround times, and cost efficiency across the delivery network.

5. Performance & Financial Management
• Prepare annual departmental budgets and monitor expenditure, ensuring alignment with company profitability targets.
• Review revenue reports, validate billing accuracy, and control disbursement exposure on all job files.

6. Compliance, Risk & Quality Control
• Ensure compliance with customs, port, and transport regulations, and maintain zero non-conformity in audits.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as cost per shipment, operational gross margin, and customer satisfaction.

7. Client & Stakeholder Management
• Serve as the senior escalation point for client issues within imports, exports, or transport operations.
• Maintain strategic relationships with key clients, shipping lines, transporters, and regulatory bodies.
