Mission Description
Job Purpose:
The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the financial performance of the company by managing costs and ensuring efficient use of resources. This role ensures accurate budgeting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and adherence to financial policies to support effective decision-making and optimize profitability.
Job Function:
Cost Management & Analysis
• Monitor and analyze actual costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and their causes.
• Develop and maintain cost control systems, processes, and reports.
• Perform cost analysis for projects, departments, or specific activities to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Collaborate with departmental heads to prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Track expenditure against budgets and ensure compliance with approved financial plans.
• Provide detailed cost forecasts to assist in strategic decision-making.
Financial Reporting
• Generate periodic financial reports, including cost performance reports, variance reports, and profitability analyses.
• Ensure timely reporting to management and other stakeholders with actionable insights.
Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.
• Work with teams to implement cost-saving initiatives and measure their effectiveness.
Compliance & Governance
• Ensure all costs are recorded and reported in compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for cost control processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Liaise with procurement, operations, finance, and project teams to ensure alignment on cost objectives.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on cost control systems and practices
QHSE
• Ensure all QHSE requirements are adhered too, and relevant policies and procedures are followed
Profile
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements & Core Competencies
• Matric
• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Experience within a Transport / Logistics / Freight Forwarding field preferred
• Computer literate, Excel, Data oriented, PowerBi
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• 3 to 5years' experience in cost control, budgeting, or financial analysis.
