Mission Description                      

Job Purpose:
The Vessel Planner must maintain ownership of the vessels under your control and act as assist if planning disturbances occur during vessel call. Ensure efficient and highly productive planning with due consideration to the vessel stability and safety under load and discharge. Take responsibility for providing the relevant information about the vessel's discharge and load to the vessel and its agent.
Critical Success Factors
Preparation and execution of vessel discharge and load sequence to support a 37 GMPH per quay crane operation, whilst ensuring that all BMPH as per contracts are achieved and sustained.
Job Function:
Main Objectives
• Prepare and execute the vessel discharge and load plans.
• Manage and control the execution of the vessel operation plan, ensuring that the vessel file is closed within two hrs of the completion of vessel operations.
• Filing and housekeeping of planning related papers in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP's). Also maintain that all vessels receive paper work in a timely manner.
• Meet vessel on arrival, to finalise and provide all loading documents, and quay crane working sequence. Maintain that all vessels receive final departure paper work in a timely manner.
• Understanding of vessel stability and safety under discharge and load criteria and whether intended discharge and load plan meets those criteria's.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required.
• Relevant certifications in vessel planning or logistics may be advantageous.
• A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in vessel planning, port operations, or maritime logistics.
• Experience in containerized shipping, vessel scheduling, or terminal operations is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with vessel planning software (e.g., Trimble, Navis, or similar systems) and port management systems.
• Strong understanding of maritime regulations, loading/unloading processes, and cargo stowage planning.
• Ability to analyse data related to cargo capacity, vessel efficiency, and scheduling.
