Mission Description                      

Job Purpose:
The Local Export Controller is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all export shipments from Namibia, ensuring full compliance with local customs regulations, company procedures, and client requirements. The role ensures efficient planning, accurate documentation, and timely execution of export processes across all modes of transport.

Job Function & Responsibilities:
Export Coordination & Execution
• Manage and control the full export process (Road, Air, and Sea).
• Receive and process export instructions from clients and internal teams.
• Prepare and verify all export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, B/L, certificates, and cargo manifests.
• Coordinate export bookings with carriers, shipping lines, and transporters.
• Monitor cargo readiness, export cut-off times, and vessel/flight schedules.
Customs Compliance
• Ensure compliance with NamRA customs legislation and export control requirements.
• Prepare and frame SAD500 entries and ensure all declarations are accurate and submitted timeously.
• Liaise with customs officials to resolve queries or stop-orders.
Client Service & Communication
• Serve as the primary contact for clients on export matters.
• Provide clients with updates on shipment status, documentation progress, and anticipated delays.
• Handle client queries professionally and timeously.
Operations & Coordination
• Communicate with warehousing, transportation, and port teams to ensure efficient cargo movement.
• Track and trace cargo until final departure.
• Ensure all export files are complete and compliant for audit purposes.
Reporting & Administration
• Maintain records of all export shipments on the internal system.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on export performance and outstanding shipments.
• File and archive export documents according to company policy.

 

Profile

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Grade 12 (essential).
• Certificate or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or International Trade (advantageous).
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in export operations (Sea, Air, or Road).
• Experience with Namibian customs procedures and the ASYCUDA/ASYCUDA World system.
• Experience working with shipping lines, carriers, and transporters in Namibia
• Strong understanding of export documentation and customs practices.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Knowledge of port processes at Namport (advantageous).
