Mission Description                      

Senior System and Network Administrator - within the discipline of IT service management (ITSM) as defined by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) - main functions are supporting the IT infrastructure in the RUN and/or BUILD team at a technician level. This role is essential to maintaining the availability, security, and efficiency of systems that underpin Rwanda's critical logistics activities, including port operations, warehousing, transport management, and cross-border trade. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in hybrid IT environments and an understanding of Rwanda's evolving digital infrastructure landscape. Working closely with the MIS teams, this position will ensure seamless connectivity and robust system performance to support MAGERWA's vision of facilitating Rwanda's integration into global trade networks with reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions.

Job Function & Responsibilities:
● Design, implement, and maintain server infrastructure and cloud platforms
● Administer and secure network infrastructure including routers, switches, VPNs, and firewalls across international offices, warehouses, and distribution centers
● Support and maintain cloud-based services in coordination with global IT teams
● Ensure 24/7 uptime for critical systems supporting logistics and supply chain platforms
● Implement and manage redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery systems across global regions
● Monitor and optimize network and system performance using enterprise tools
● Conduct regular security audits and enforce policies to ensure compliance with international standards
● Lead infrastructure components of IT projects such as global system migrations, warehouse expansions, and new site rollouts
● Collaborate with regional IT teams and vendors to resolve issues, standardize configurations, and improve response times
● Maintain accurate documentation for systems, networks, and procedures
● Provide feedback to clients and management regarding the status of problems and service requests to ensure that agreed service levels and client service standards are achieved.
● Undertake change management activities associated with infrastructure provisioning.
● Provide mentoring and support to more junior engineers and support technicians in the appropriate use and support of technologies

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in system and network administration within a large, distributed enterprise environment
• Strong experience with:
• Windows Server, Linux distributions
• Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
• Networking protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, MPLS
• Experience managing enterprise firewalls and VPNs (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto)
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Azure and/or AWS
