Mission Description                      

Job Purpose:

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations across multiple Southern African countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. This role serves as the primary point of contact for HR and finance teams regarding payroll-related queries, statutory reporting, and internal audits. The incumbent will also manage employee self-service (ESS) systems, leave administration, and continuously improve payroll processes and documentation.




Job Function:
• Supervise and execute full payroll functions including data capture, imports, reporting, GL reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Oversee employee leave administration in line with company policies and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Manage and maintain Employee Self-Service (ESS) profiles and troubleshoot related issues.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly payroll processing and statutory submissions.
• Perform month-end reconciliations and prepare payroll-related financial reports and schedules.
• Manage payroll for both local and expatriate employees, including benefits and allowances.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation across the Southern Africa region.
• Maintain and update payroll Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in real-time.
• Supervise the upkeep of digital payroll records and ensure data confidentiality.
• Ensure all mandatory information is up to date and in line with A'Community.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation.
• Provide training and guidance to junior payroll staff or administrators as needed.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within payroll operations.
• Handle ad hoc payroll-related tasks and projects as assigned.

 

Profile

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Education: Matric (Compulsory); Payroll or Finance-related qualification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
• Systems: Proficiency in Sage 300 (including ESS) is essential.
• Technical Skills: Strong Excel and Word skills; experience with payroll GLs and reconciliations.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of payroll legislation and statutory requirements in Southern Africa.
