Mission Description
The Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the depot, ensuring that all logistical, operational, and administrative processes are executed effectively. This includes managing the depot staff, inventory control, transportation, compliance with safety regulations, and customer service. The Depot Manager will play a critical role in driving operational performance, cost management, and achieving service excellence.

Job Function:
Depot Operations:
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring smooth workflow and operational efficiency.
• Oversee the loading, unloading, and transportation of goods, ensuring accuracy and adherence to delivery schedules.
• Implement best practices in depot operations to ensure optimal service delivery.
Team Leadership:
• Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of depot staff, including drivers, warehouse staff, and administrative personnel.
• Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff are knowledgeable on operational procedures, health & safety regulations, and customer service standards.
• Conduct regular performance appraisals, set targets, and ensure the team meets operational KPIs.
Inventory Management:
• Oversee stock control processes, ensuring that inventory is accurately tracked, stored, and managed.
• Ensure regular stock audits and correct discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Work with the procurement team to manage inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock while avoiding overstocking.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure the depot is compliant with all relevant local and national regulations, including safety, environmental, and health standards.
• Regularly review and update safety procedures and policies, ensuring staff are trained and adhere to safety protocols.
• Carry out risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate risks in the workplace.
Customer Service:
• Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained by addressing customer complaints or queries promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve issues related to deliveries, inventory, and returns.
Financial Management:
• Monitor and control the depot's budget, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising service quality.
• Analyze financial performance and recommend cost-saving measures.
Reporting & Administration:
• Maintain accurate records of all depot operations, including inventory levels, staff attendance, and performance metrics.
• Provide regular reports to senior management regarding depot performance, operational challenges, and improvement strategies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all depot activities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in depot management, logistics, or operations.
• Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams.
• Knowledge of inventory management systems and logistics software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements in a depot or warehouse environment.
