Mission Description
Job Purpose:
Yard Planner is responsible for controlling and planning the complete yard process in order to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency with due consideration to vessel and inter-modal operations. Yard planners must also manage continuous process of yard integrity, while performing on-going space utilization analysis. Has responsibility on a daily basis for ensuring that the yard operation runs in a manner that achieves maximum productivity and efficiency, with 100% system integrity as it relates to equipment location.
• Create and maintain a yard set up which supports the terminals need for a 37 GMPH quay crane operation, and an average 30-minute truck turn-time.
• Ensure that equipment location information has 100% integrity.
• Reduce redundant yard moves to less than 5 % of the total movement.
• Check and support an accurate and efficient information flow on the terminal related to all yard activities
Job Function:
Main Objectives
• In co-operation with Planning Manager set the overall yard strategy by assigning (flexible) allocation per service.
• Control yard space allocation by service, nominated vessel, pod, equipment type, special handling (i.e. hazardous, out-ofg, temperature controlled etc.) for empty and loaded equipment.
• Monitor and fine-tune the terminal operating system in order to ensure that yard planning is satisfactory and meets the strategy requirements.
• Prepare the 'yard work plan' on a daily basis and communicate to relevant persons where the equipment has to be located.
• Prepare the workflow related to housekeeping, empty movement, corrections etc.
• Report on a weekly basis to the Planning Manager on the status of production, yard density, equipment utilization and strategy/allocation changes.
• Nominate empty equipment for shipment as directed by the concerned shipping line.

In-depth knowledge of container terminal operations.
In-depth with computer-aided yard planning systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent; Degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field will be an advantage.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in logistics, warehouse management, or yard operations.
• Experience in planning, coordinating, or organizing yard activities or operations is preferred.
• Previous experience in using Yard Management Systems (YMS) or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) may be required.
• Yard Management or Logistics certifications may be an advantage
