Mission Description                      

Job Purpose & Main Missions
The Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the organisation.
The role focuses on improving safety, quality, cost, productivity and lead times by identifying areas for improvement, eliminating waste and implementing practical solutions.
The position will work closely with operational teams and management to improve processes, develop operational excellence capabilities and deliver measurable results.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
• Identify operational issues and opportunities for improvement across the organisation.
• Maintain and prioritise a register of improvement initiatives and projects.
• Lead and support Operational Excellence and continuous improvement projects.
• Implement appropriate improvement methodologies and tools.
• Work with operational managers and teams to improve processes and eliminate waste.
• Provide coaching and training on problem solving, standardisation and continuous improvement.
• Monitor the progress and results of improvement initiatives.
• Support management in identifying and prioritising actions aligned with business objectives.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Communicate Operational Excellence initiatives and results across the organisation.
• Share best practices and improvement initiatives across AGL entities.
• Provide regular updates to management on progress, challenges and results.

 

Profile

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12 / School Certificate.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Project Management or a related field.
• 5–7 years' experience in Operations, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Experience in implementing improvement initiatives and projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work with and influence employees and management at different levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Results-oriented with a practical, hands-on approach.
• Experience in logistics, transport, terminals or shipping operations will be an advantage.
• Qualifications must be ZAQA certified where applicable.
CERTIFICATIONS
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt will be an advantage.
• Project Management certification such as PMP will be an advantage.
