Full time

Mission Description                      

Job Purpose:
To lead, coordinate and support a team of artisans, assistant artisans and apprentices responsible for carrying out trucks preventative and corrective maintenance for AGL Namibia. The supervisor will be responsible for planning, reporting, budget support, performance management. Effective supervision, over inspections and quality control before equipment is sent back into service.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
• Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel.
• Manage workforce allocation, leave planning, overtime, standby rosters, and attendance.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance management and provide ongoing technical guidance to team members.
Maintenance Planning & Execution
• Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities to maximize fleet availability.
• Ensure labour, tools, spare parts, and resources are available for scheduled work.
• Support maintenance planning activities and prioritize work according to operational requirements.
• Ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely, on time, and according to OEM and company standards.
CMMS & Asset Management
• Ensure accurate and timely closure of work orders within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Maintain equipment history, component tracking, and asset condition records.
• Monitor maintenance data and identify additional work requirements to improve reliability.
Quality Assurance & Reliability Improvement
• Conduct inspections and verification of completed maintenance work.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, maintenance procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing failures, improving reliability, and optimizing maintenance costs.
• Monitor and improve key maintenance KPIs such as equipment availability, MTTR, MTBF, preventive maintenance compliance, and resource utilization.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all company, legal, and statutory safety requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety observations.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Promote safe work practices, housekeeping standards, and 5S principles within the workshop.
• Ensure all personnel receive required safety training and adhere to PPE requirements.
General Responsibilities
• Support maintenance budgeting, cost control, and variance management.
• Ensure proper use and control of labour, tools, spare parts, and resources.
• Assist with after-hours breakdowns and standby requirements when necessary.
• Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management

 

Profile

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic or Auto Electrician with a recognised National Trade Certificate (N3 or equivalent).
• Valid Code B/BE driver's licence.
• Computer literacy in CMMS systems (Maximo or equivalent) and Microsoft Office.
• Valid Certificate of Conduct.
• Minimum 10 years' post-trade experience in truck and heavy mobile equipment maintenance.
• Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience leading maintenance teams.
• Proven experience using CMMS systems for work order management and asset tracking.
• Experience in maintenance cost control, budgeting support, and performance reporting.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, reliability improvement, and workshop operations.
• Experience on Scania and Shacman trucks will be advantageous.
• Experience maintaining mobile cranes, reach stackers, forklifts, empty container handlers, and tyre management will be advantageous.
Added Advantages
• National Diploma (N6) or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Maintenance Planning, Asset Management, Supervisory, or Management qualification.
• Additional technical certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance
