Mission Description                      

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing warehousing operations, primary and secondary transportation, operational excellence, customs compliance, WMS /TMS systems, security and cleaning contractor management, site maintenance, project execution, and customer service excellence. The role ensures that all logistics operations meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards while delivering high performance and continuous improvement across the supply chain.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehousing & Inventory Operations
• Manage, organize, and encourage teamwork to build a high performance culture and ensure exceptional customer service.
• Oversee receiving, warehousing, and distribution of products in line with strict client deadlines.
• Take full responsibility for all warehousing accounts and coordinate periodical audits.
• Ensure stock is accurately updated and reconciled with the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Oversee monthly stock counts and ensure reconciliation with WMS.
• Set up and maintain efficient warehouse layout and space utilization.
• Direct stock movement, manage inventory, and ensure all discrepancies are fully investigated and resolved.
• Ensure warehouse KPIs are met and take corrective action when deviations occur.
• Manage Warehouse operations—including loading/offloading and proper storage by client.
• Coordinate daily activities in Free Warehouse to ensure timely receiving and dispatch.
• Manage and control lifting equipment and operators to ensure operational readiness at all times.
• Maintain standards of health, safety, security, and cleanliness across all warehouses.
• Ensure staff requirements in line with operation requirements
• Management of all warehouse related activities.
Transportation Management
• Plan delivery schedules and loading timetables for contractors according to client requirements.
• Oversee primary and secondary transportation to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods.
• Manage TMS Systems, ensuring ongoing master data updates, client onboarding and ensuring optimised route planning
• Ensure fleet maintenance schedules put in place and cost measured
• Manager supplier onboarding and compliance with AGL policies and procedures
• Validate and approve supplier invoices
• Validate and approve all fuel increase and decrease costing
• Manage AGL Vehicle fleet, labour and all relevant daily weekly and monthly reporting
• Implementation and management of all transport KPIS
• Ensure implementation of transportation best practices, tracking, temperature control and consumption management
• Ensure management of labour overtime and allowances
• Management of all transport related activities.

 

Profile

Customs & Regulatory Compliance
• Manage all customs exceptions, investigations, escalations, and resolution of queries.
• Oversee Customs Exception QC Listings and provide regular updates on resolution status.
• Ensure compliance with all sites specific customs inspections.
• Align customs systems with WMS weekly at customer and item levels.
• Ensure full compliance to all Heath and Safety requirements
• Ensure full compliance to all Legislative requirements
Inventory Audit & Control
• Conduct inventory audits including cycle counts, customer-specific counts, and wall to wall counts.
• Investigate inventory deviations and implement best practice solutions.
• Audit all SOPS and ensure ongoing updating based on operational requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all legislative and customer requiems.

Claims, Risk & Process Improvement
• Manage claims investigations, escalations, and root cause analysis; update processes to prevent recurrence.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of warehouse processes.
• Conduct staff training, performance assessments, and research industry best practices for implementation

Systems Management (WMS /TMS Super User)
• Serve as WMS /TMS Super User—ensure system compliance, staff training, query resolution, equipment management, and continuous improvement.
• Manage WMS /TMS master data, reports, KPIs, and customer-specific SOP development.
• Implementation of best practices and introduction of new technology
Leadership & Budget Management
• Provide strong leadership to warehouse staff to ensure productivity, discipline, and a positive working environment.
• Ensure up to date job descriptions and organograms al all times.
• Ensue cross functional training for all departments.
• Ensue upskilling of teams with internal and external training.
• Ensure compliance to HR policies and procedures.
• Prepare and monitor the annual departmental budget with the Branch Manager and Finance.
• Ensure on time and aureate weekly forecast submissions
• Analyse Monthly P&L, reviewing all cost and implantation of cost saving programs
• Ensure Capex review and submission of relevant costing and proposals
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business,
• Diploma in Project Management (advantageous).
• Freight Forwarding or related qualification (added advantage).
• Minimum 10 years' experience in logistics environment.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in customs processes.
• Minimum 3 years' experience working on WMS systems.
• Minimum 3 years' experience working on TMS systems
• Minimum 5 years' managerial experience
• Minimum 3 years' experience in QHSE
