Mission Description                      

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for MSC Rwanda operations.
Drive business growth, ensure operational excellence, and uphold compliance with all maritime, logistics, and trade regulations. Build and maintain strong customer, governmental, and industry relationships to reinforce MSC's market position in Rwanda.
Ensure financial sustainability, profitability, and people development across the organization.

JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management & Business Development Activities:

•Define and execute MSC Rwanda's commercial and operational strategy in alignment with regional and global objectives.

•Lead market intelligence initiatives, identify business opportunities, and secure growth in market share and revenue.

•Represent MSC Rwanda externally with customers, partners, port authorities, and government institutions.

•Ensure alignment with global MSC policies, standards, and compliance requirements.

•Verify the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives set.

•In collaboration with the Managing Director, define and negotiate the budget for each activity or service under your responsibility.

•Carry out monthly reports of the activities carried out to the Managing Director.

•Evaluate suppliers and service providers.
•Ensure compliance with the internal. regulations, legislation and/or regulations applicable in consignment and shipping agency activities.

Shipping Agency Activities & Consignment

•Oversee end-to-end shipping agency, logistics, and consignment operations to guarantee service excellence.
•Supervise vessel call management, container flow, invoicing, and documentation.
•Ensure efficient management of tariffs, quotations, and customer visits.
•Ensure compliance with credit deadlines, demurrage, detention, and invoicing timelines.
•Supervise document management for import/export and container equipment.
•Champion continuous improvement and digitalization initiatives within operational activities.

Invoicing & Credit Management :

•Prepare and manage annual budgets, ensuring profitability and cost control.
•Supervise credit management, revenue collection, and reconciliations with principals.
•Validate major contracts, purchases, and vendor engagements within delegated authority.
•Provide monthly and quarterly performance reports to Regional/Managing Director.
•Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, monitoring disbursements, accounts receivable/payable, and financial reconciliations.

Litigation & Litigation:
•Oversee resolution of customer complaints and disputes related to shipping agency and consignment activities.
•Ensure fair handling of litigation, discrepancies, and regulatory compliance issues.
•Engage proactively with customers to address issues and safeguard MSC's reputation.

Other activities
•Be actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives to increase customer satisfaction and company results.

Competences requises
-Master's degree in Transport, Logistics, International Trade, or Business Administration.
-10+ years of progressive experience in shipping, logistics, and trade, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
-Strong knowledge of East Africa shipping, port operations, and trade regulations.
-Proven record in business development and managing P&L responsibility.
-Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
-Fluency in English required; French is an asset.
-Proficiency in MS Office and digital collaboration tools.
